I live in America, currently unemployed, desperately need job, have an interview next tues with a company, but they are going to want me to work past sundown on friday by up to 4 hours, but rest of 7th day off. I know according to the Bible sundown is when days begin/end, but obviously here in America that hasn't been so for years. I don't want to be as the Jews who were to rigid and religious, I could care less about the 4 hours myself personally, UNLESS that would mean not honhouring God and being obedient, for which I'm willing entirely to lay down my life at all costs. Where do I draw the line in your opinion? Is it worth losing a job opportunity to not compromise with the Word of God regarding the Sabbath by 4-5 hours? One plus of this job is that I'd be able to listen to my audio Bible, sermons, etc. while working, which another job I likely wouldn't have that opportunity, which kind of means that the 50 hrs a week of laboring to keep a roof over my head, would double as the work of the Lord and time in his Word. My initial convictions were absolutely no compromise NO MATTER WHAT, but now I'm second guessing myself. I Most kindly and whole-heartedly appreciate and look forward to your response my friend. God speed. -Caleb

I would go to the interview and tell them about your requirements, and why. It will be a good opportunity to share your faith and if they agree to work around the Sabbath, great. If not, then you passed the test anyway and the Lord will reward you for it. Be faithful in a little and he will give you more responsibility. Don't be discouraged; I went months without a job for this same reason, and was eventually blessed with a decent job. I thought I'd have to quit after Autumn because it would encroach on the sabbath by half an hour, but my employers were moved to let me come in half an hour earlier every day instead.

Amen, well put Eureka, greatly appreciate your counsel and comment by the way. Verily it's true that the Lord shall supply all our need according to His riches in Christ Jesus.

Here's a little testimony that corroborates that. A few weeks ago I did a couple day trial run with a interior/exterior painting company, which as it turned out was owned and managed by a guy who was a professing Christian pastor, well as it turned out conversation led to me sharing my testimony with one of the employees I was riding around with after he (the employee, Larry) told me he got saved in a bar etc. Well somehow the boss heard about it, he came down on me and said "look I'm a pastor, don't talk to Larry about the Bible or religion" well it turned out Larry was going to this guy's church, and there was all sorts of other signs that this pastor wasn't living according to the Word. Well turned out the guy was a jesuit, when i asked him if he was an agent of Rome he wouldn't answer. I stood up for the Lord and the truth, he said I was twisting scriptures, that I "needed help," though he couldn't specify how I was in error. So then he accused me of forsaking the assembly and accountability because he asked me where I was going to church and found out I wasn't attending the apostate & infiltrated "protestant" 501c3 pope's world council churches, and then he decided he didn't want to hire me (at just above minimum wage, while he's raking in triple figures). So anyways, my bank account at one point got down to $1.28. But I knew the Lord would provide a way as I continued to cry out to him, wait upon Him, trust him, and eschew even the garment spotted by the flesh; and that if he didn't, it was according to his good counsel. Well as it turns out today I received a nice some of money from my Grandmother for selling a motorcycle she had (long story), which will hold me over for at least a couple months of job searching granted it's not the Lord's will that I get hired at this company with which I have the interview on tuesday.

So anyways, I guess the moral of the story is the Lord is altogether lovely, faithful, merciful, and true, and most definitely works all things for good to those that love Him and are called according to His purpose, and that he will never leave nor forsake us!!! So I will continue to lay down my life in obedience to the Lord, my Master, as He laid down His life for me!!

God bless you guys
